I just received a notice from my sewing machine dealer regarding the change in ownership for Pfaff and Viking to Kohlberg and Company - the company that also owned Singer Sewing Machinge Co., these three then became SVP Worldwide and the company moved the manufacturing to China. Apparently SVP Worldwide is pulling machine sales agreements in a number of markets in the US, with little or no notice. My dealer is going to continue as an authorized warranty and service center, but will no longer be carrying either Pfaff or Viking :(. Is this happening in any of your areas? I was contemplating buying a Pfaff, but will have to travel quite a ways to do any hands on shopping.

My LQS was a Viking dealer and now only sells Janome. They still do the warranty service and routine maintenance. I bought the Viking because the store is so close. She has very few accessories for my machine which is maddening. I really can't afford to trade mine in which is what she suggested I do.

First I've heard of this. I have been sewing with Pfaff's for the past 10 years, think I better contact my dealer to see what's up. May in Jersey

I haven't heard of this at all. Thanks for the update. I have 2 Pfaff machines, (one is my backup) and love them both. As long as I can get maintance on them, I'll be fine.
