Upgrade to Singer Quantum 9960???
I am looking into upgrading from mechanical to digital sewing machine but my budget is very limited. I would use it primarily for piecing. Singer Quantum 9960 comes with 600 stitches and many other features for under $400. I read the reviews on Singer and Amazon and they are either very good or really bad. If you have this machine I would love to hear from you. If you have a suggestion for a better one in the same price range I would really appreciate it. Thank you all and merry Christmas!

I'd go to my local dealer and ask about a used machine.

Step away from the Singer. Friends don't let friends buy non vintage Singer's.

I wouldn't buy a Singer younger than the 60's, I don't care how many stitches it has. I would also go to a dealer not a big box store. The dealer may very well have a used machine traded in for upgrade, that would be more costly if you were to buy it new.

Keep away from 112 sewing. Had to many problems with them. Was told machine would do something, handed over thousands, to find out it didnt.
id try another place, but steer clear of chris the owner. |
You will regret purchasing a Singer. Go with Janome, Brother or Babylock. Trust me...I know :)

Brother PC-420 from amazon, same price range awesome reviews

My friend bought a new Singer some time ago, I'm surprised she hasn't set fire to it. It's more trouble than enough so she gave up and bought a new Janome which she adores.

I bought the Singer Quantum 9960 through Amazon. It works great for what I want. I use it to quilt small projects on it too. Never a problem. Just have to keep the bobbin area free of lint like all machines.

I have several Singers, both new and vintage, in my "stable"...I must hold my mouth just right because rarely do they give me problems...I also have a Janome 6600P as my primary machine and a Viking Platinum as my back-up...no problems there either...hmmmm, I must not be sewing enough...:)
