Used my binding fabric

Any ideas please. I have two quilts which I have just quilted but lost or more likely used the fabric for the binding. How or what do I use to make binding?
I have thought about getting a length of ribbon and folding to fit but otherwise lost for ideas.

I suppose ribbon would work. But I think I would rather try to find a piece of fabric in a complementing colour. It's happened to me too.

OH! Sounds like you must go to the fabric shop!!! I'd bring the quilts and pick out a half yard or so of coordinating colors.

I did a Google search for Eleanor Burns

There are videos you can select and watch. I use her technique but I cut my binding 2.25" strip wide, connect the strips at a 45 degree angle then press wrong side to wrong size. Line up the raw edge on the side of the quilt and sew it on. The video will show you a lot more detail. Any basic quilting book should have instructions on how to make binding and attach it. Good luck. I wouldn't use the ribbon.

Time to seach the stash.....surprising what you can find in there.

Make it a scrappy binding. Use leftover pieces of the fabric in the quilt or pieces from your stash and scrap it up.

I would buy binding fabric a shade or 2 darker than the quilt rather than trying to match it.
I just had a panic moment as I searched for the last of my pale yellow. It is for a border treatment on a quilt that wasn't originally planned but now I want to do. Note to self: don't change your mind in the middle of a quilt!

Just add another fabric and it will be fine. Sometimes we stress too much when quilting. Really, no rules, anything goes. Don't lose sleep over it just use something else.

I would not use ribbon-that sounds a lot harder than finding some fabric that will go with it. I think about 90% of the time I forget to factor in binding fabric when I buy or choose fabric for a quilt. I usually can find something in my stash that will work.

Thank you for your comments. It looks like a dive into scrap box as I am laid up with a very sore throat and not going out at present. The rest of me feels fine but talking is very painful.
