Hi,I have a new question to ask.Do you think it is alright to use clothes to make a quilt?I have some that were my dads and some that were my mother-in-law's.I would like to use some of them in a quilt;when I can come up with a quilt that I think I can make.Being so new to quilting I haven't decided what quilt that would be.May be somebody could help me pick out one.
thank you so much Kate2 |
Yes - you can use clothes. They are common for a mourning quilt. Just make sure the fabric isn't too worn or thin.
Here's a site with lots of free patterns. http://www.quilt.com/Blocks/AlphaBlockList.html |

Yes great for memorie quilts. Sad story my dad passed and My mother is not a quuilter. I wanted my dads shirts to make memorie quilts for the grand kids. She thought it was awfull to cut themup and now one would want them. So she gave most to a cousin and he had just had surgery ad dies two weeks after my dad and my aunt too to goodwill. I did get one of his wool shirts and I cut Oak leaf shapes out of it and felted to a bag I cary everywhere with me with my crocheting in it. I love the bag and getting worn but I have more of the shirt. So yes use them.
