Wondering if anyone uses cotton flannel instead of batting. Many of my Mom's quilts that she made had flannel cotton instead of polyfill. The quilts were thin but very warm.

Prewash the flannel. It shrinks a whole bunch. Then it'll be fine to use for batting.

When you wash the flannel make sure to use HOT water so you will not have an unpleasant suprise later.

I like to use flannel too, and yes I too wash it in hot water, sometimes twice just to make sure it is done shrinking :D:D:D

i made my husband a wolf quilt in 8" blocks and the top was cotton and he wanted flannel on the bk. it keeps him warm he says. I have washed it several times and dried in dryer and everything is still in tact.

I used flannel in this table topper. It's actually pretty awesome. While it's not thick and fluffy, it's pretty dense, which I figure is great for soemething like this.
