Using flannel for batting...How to quilt

Normally when using 80/20 batting for quilts, I quilt on the diagonal 3" a part, both ways, so looks like a diagpnal pattern.
Now I'm using flannel for batting
? is is...can I just sew on one diagonal line? Batting can shilft do I have to worry about the flannel shilfting? I think NO but I need your opinioin.

I sew for Project Linus so don't want any issues.

if spray or pin basted smoothly you won't have any problems. I've used up some old flannel stash for batt in a number of my bed runners. no problems. Unless in your case it hasn't been preshrunk. wash the quilts after quilting to make sure you don't end up with a wadded mess.

I've used flannel for backing and for batting. Seem to have no problem with it. Sometimes using flannel on the back makes for a little lighter in weight quilt but is still warm. Especially nice for baby or kid's quilt.
