using glue - any tips to be sure it all washes out?

I have read here on the board about using washable glue when making a quilt. I am finishing up my first quilt using the washable glue sticks. I tried not to use too much, but when we are piecing 300 squares I am sure the amount of glue used is more than I first intended to use. I am glad that I used the glue - it made things soooooo much easier.

Now when I wash it, are there any tips to help all of the glue wash out? I am thinking that I will let it soak, but not sure how long.

I would appreciate any thoughts

Thank you

Regular washing is all it takes, doesn't even need detergent. I turned a washable glue stick all the way up and put in in a sink of warm water. It all dissolved in no time.

Yep, just regular washing. It'll all come out.

It may not all come out the first time. I used a glue stick on a binding, and after washing part of the binding was still stiff from the glue. A second washing removed the rest of the glue. It might help to soak the quilt for a while before agitating, so the glue softens up.

I usually wash with cold water but I found out that didn't get the glue out so washed it with warm water and that did the trick. I have never used a glue stick but rather liquid washable glue. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I also have a high efficiency washer so put the setting on bulky which adds more water to the washer.
