using organza in a quilt advice needed
I have a quilt that I want to put an organza shape of a woman(silhouette) on the top. If you have done something like this before do you have any advice or tips? I want the colors of the quilt to show through so I will probably only use a single layer.

Organza will fray badly. You'll want to satin-stitch around the edges of the silhouette to hold it in place. You might try doing this on a "test block" that you can toss in the washer a few times to see if the satin-stitching will hold it, or if it will ravel its way out from under, anyway. You wouldn't have to use the fancy silhouette on the test block, just any shape that has corners to it so you would get a good idea of how it will hold up.

It won't be washed .. I should have said this is a wall hanging.

I have done a shadow trapunto with organza but I did it over the whole block so that the edges were enclosed in the seams. Is there any way you could do it so the edges are under something. If you cut a silhouette out of the background fabric and fold under the edges, could you then put the organza over the shape and glue the edges to the back of the shape? It would look like just organza if you matched the shape underneath to the background.

Its hard for me to explain without putting a picture up. I have a sort of pathway made out of rainbow colors. What I picture in my mind is a sheer silhouette of a female in black with the parts of the body lined up to the colors of the chakras. The back ground I want like a night blue and I have left over wedges of the colors I am going to sew together and applique to the background in circles. Or maybe not it may change over time. But I do want the silhouette . so it cant have a backing or be sewn into anything. I guess trial and error is in order.
