I found out a couple weeks ago Wal-Mart sells these prepaid cards (Visa or mastercard...I don't remember). I just remembered them now because the watercolor/marble fabrics I want to get for my stained glass quilts are from Hancock of Paducah and they don't accept PayPal. As much as I think this is a stupid question I'm going to ask it anyways: has anyone used them to buy things from quilting websites?

There's only one quilt shop in town and its small so there's not like hundred of fabrics to choose from, I don't get the oppurtunity to go to the city very often, and some websites I would like to shop from don't accept PayPal. So if these prepaid cards would work it could expand my quilting horizons just a little bit. :)

I've not used the prepaid cards but when I was on unemployment I used my debit card (Visa) , no reason a prepaid from WM not to work, it's still a debit card.

I would think they would work on most sites. They are supposed to be accepted everywhere that credit cards are. The only issue I could foresee is if the company does some type of hold on the card first that ties up the funds on it and then the charge doesn't go through.

You could look into getting a Mastercard debit card for your PayPal account.

I've only had trouble with those gift cards at one place, and I can't remember where it was or even what the problem was.

Usually, you spend them just like you do with a debit card.

Yes, I have used them. I dont have a real credit card, but they work the sam way.

Doesn't PayPal still have the option you can use, to generate a one time use credit card number for shops that don't take PayPal? I have used that option several times in the past :D:D:D

I used to work in a GAP call center and a lot of people would use those. You use them the same that you would a regular credit card. Actually, that would be a good place to save quilting money. Just keep adding to a prepaid card. Thanks for the idea, I'll have to think about that!

I don't use prepaid cards as they cost more. I am quite thrifty [at least at times] and would rather use that money for other things.

I've had no problem with using my credit card for online items. I do check to make sure the company I am dealing with is reputable.

I use my checking account debit card as a credit card. It is supposed to be safer that way. I've never had a problem. I tried to use a gift card at a Crocs website and it didn't work. They said they took American Express, but it was no go.

I have a western union pre paid. I have had it for all most ten years that's how I pay for any thing online. What ever I put on the card is my budget I don't get into trouble.
