I just saw this on Sewing with Nancy this morning. Has anyone ever tried it? The stitch looks very heavy/thick where she echo quilted a leaf for an example. She fed one spool from one direction and the second spool from the opposite direction and threaded both threads through a topstitching needle and loosened her tension to 3 and her stitch length is 3.5. I thought it was a nice idea for setting off an area of quilting on a quilt that is asking for something a little different and special.

Neat idea, I'll have to keep it in mind. Thanks!!

I think it would be easier and finish with the same results if one were to just use a 30 wt. or 12 wt. thread.

I hadn't heard of it, but it sounds like a neat idea. Thanks for sharing!

I have, but only on a sample at a workshop. It worked fine. We also used two different colours in twin needles that looked really nice.

That sounds cool. I'll have to try that.

We used to do this when we topstitched on jackets and coats. The stitches were very defined and usually done in contrast thread color. Back when we did this, we didn't have access to 12 weight thread like we do now.
