Using UFO for a good cause

When we were taking care of Mom, she had alz, I sewed with reckless abandon. Sewing was my coping mechanism. Made so many tops. Mostly queen size. Only two made it into quilts. Now I'm taking these tops, cutting them down, and using them for backings for my Project Linus quilts. Now these quilts are "twofers!" I'm really happy. Getting rid of UFOs, making quilts faster, and kids get something attractive on their bed. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png

My backs may not always coordinate with the top but then you only see one side of the quilt at a time anyway...lol

Good for you! And the children will have something special.

That is such a great idea!

That's a wonderful idea. I always hear of so many quilters who have UFO tops that they don't know what to do with. You've hit on the solution.

Good for you! Our guild has a large donation of unfinished tops, we will be doing this too!

I have to admit it's fun making these quilts with tops that have been hiding. And not having to piece a back is a bonus! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...s/rolleyes.png

I totally agree with you. I always make my own quilts reversible and they never coordinate. It allows me to make more quilt tops without having to quilt them separatly..

I did that once for a baby quilt. love the way it turned out and mama thought she got a bonus!
