Philadelphia is only about an hour from Lancaster county, which is a quilter's dream spot! Are you taking 81 down south? If so, I can suggest some other great shops.

If you are traveling down from Phila and are on Interstate 85 through NC, a must stop is Maryjo's Clothstore in Gastonia, NC, it is right off of 85...it is rather large and is a little piece of fabric heaven!! You can do a google search to get more info and directions.

It would be helpful to know your route.

In Georgia: Tiny Stitches in Marietta, Thread Bear in Cumming, and Cottontail Quilts in Kennesaw. All have a fabulous staff and selection.

Hoppin Bobbin in Aberdeen, Maryland is where I love to shop and is right off 95. Serendipity in Dagsboro, Delaware if you are anywhere near Rehoboth Beach.

Material Girls in LaPlata MD outside of DC. VERY nice shop.

There is The Little Shop in Haddonfield, NJ which is just across the river from Philadelphia. Olde City Quilts in Burlington, NJ - not too far north of Philly if you want to go a bit out of your way. There is also Fabric Row in downtown Phila. Not much in the way of quilting things but if you are also into garment or home dec sewing, some really different things there. And trims - omg! Second the Serendipity in Dagsboro, DE if you are taking the scenic route south.

There is a nice shop in Swedesboro nj, only a hop skip and jump from the commodore Barry bridge south of Philadelphia. If you are taking rt 95 south you will come to the exit for the bridge. Follow rt 322 to the first Wawa (convenience store and gas.). Turn right, go right at the dead end and the shop Needles and pins is on the left about a mile down. Or if you miss the Wawa you can turn right at Kings hywy and that will take you into town. They are getting ready to move so having a sale. If you are into the fall then don't turn at the Wawa. They will be further down rt 322 on the other side of mulica hill. Also on the left.
