That is something I would not do. I would either get another machine or buy different fabric.

I think starch would take care of it.

I am new to quilting, but I "iron" (as opposed to pressing) fabric after I wash it. It seems like that would take care of any stretch or fading.

Not sure why she is vacuuming the fabric, but it doesn't seem to make too much sense. My vacuum would make the entire strip vanish!

The precut strips are cut with a fine pinking, and it does fill up my machine with lint. I like the idea of vacuuming them, but I will try on the ends of the roll instead of the individual strips. I have a computer vacuum set up for my regular vacuum, I will use that.

If it's a Brother sewing brother, I believe it. I've had mine for alittle over a year and it's been in the shop twice under warranty. I just dropped it off this weekend cause it hasn't been working properly, warranty's up. The tech said it's fill of lint which I find hard to believe because I haven't used for over six months cause it's not working properly. Apparently, it can't take the lint or the feed dogs are stripping the fabric....waiting to find out what's wrong this time.

I like the idea of vacuuming the ends. I wonder if it would help to unroll the strips, then take them outside for a good shake. Might be worth trying on one or two to see what happens.

I've heard of vacuuming older quilts through cheesecloth in a hoop. It gets the dust without damaging the quilt itself. I don't know how one hold the strips down - I can hear that sucky noise my vacuum makes when it grabs something it shouldn't. *shudder*
