Valentine Wall Hanging

I am looking to do a door hanging for my mother and I do not do much applique. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I have looked through all my books and cannot find anything for a pieced heart, nor can I find any heart or Valentine's fabric at any of my usual on-line places. Your ideas are appreciated!
My mother is 83 and lives in an apartment in a community with other Seniors, and there is a year-long competition to see who has the prettiest door. She is not doing much quilting any more, so I thought I would like to come up with something special. Thanks in advance!

I know right after Christmas Joann FAbrics will have their Valentine fabric prints out if you can wait a week or so.

There is a free pattern at quilters cache for a pieced heart, and I believe it is called pieced heart. Good Luck

Joanns has Valentine fabric out now, at least the one near me does.

The twister heart is nice and fun to do. Goes pretty fast also.

If you can trace a line, cut on the line, iron and follow a shape on your machine, you can machine applique. It really seriously is not at all hard. The nice thing is with smaller projects, you can applique and quilt at the same time and just add a little bit of background quilting here and there and you're done.
