I believe they are safe to use if you so desire. The white color on the flag represents purity.

Slashing again might be a bit too much. I think Jan's idea of adding gold stars is a good one and you could strategically place them to cover some of the strip endings. Keep us posted on your final decision.

I like it just like you have it!! Love the diagonal lines, gives it the oomph it needed!
