http://lynbrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/NextGen-Quilt2.pdf I downloaded this pattern a while back as I love the D9P quilts and I started it this weekend. I changed the colours, as I am not fond of White tone on tone, and used 4 different yellow/amber fabrics and I am rather pleased with the result so far .........
This is the way they suggested, although they are not sewn as I have to adjust the blocks: http://inlinethumb42.webshots.com/74...425x425Q85.jpg But then I changed them around and with my choice of fabrics I get a totally different pattern, which I think I prefer, what do you think Ladies? http://inlinethumb27.webshots.com/26...425x425Q85.jpg |
I like it both ways. Nice job, great pattern.

I like both ways. Nice job.

The second picture, with blocks that appear smaller, looks more complicated and intriguing to me.

Both are great... might have to flip a coin

Jan in VA The blocks are all made the same way, which is a lot more complicated than the original D9P and I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like fussy cutting or bias seams  I just have more choices of layout because of the choice of my fabrics, I will decide on my choice when I have done a few more rows. Thank you for your words of encouragement ladies, they are appreciated. :-D |
They both are nice!
|
I like both settings. It would be hard for me to choose one over the other.
|
I like your second way much better.
|
Neat pattern, I am haveing a hard time choosing which one I like best. Good job very pretty.
|
I like #2 best but both are great.
|
Kewl! I like both ways, tOo.
|
I love these variations :D:D:D
|
That looks like you could get some really interesting secondary patterns once you have more blocks to play with.
Both placements are pretty...and you may come up with a 3rd or 4th as you go along...and they'll be pretty too! |
Did you finish your quilt? I was searching the net for Magic 9 patch and found your post. I am making a magic9 now in civil war colors red white & blue. I really like your second layout. I will try searching for a finished quilt.
