Not knowing enough to read "off-line events etc" I just found out about the Vermont festival because it was in the Boston Globe Magazine's "what to do on summer weekends"

I can't believe almost every class is sold out!!

Does anyone go to a festival and not go to classes, just look at the quilts and check the exhibit hall or go to a presentation? I just convinced husband we need a weekend in Vermont (since son dropped rugby we have no excuse to do a weekend up north)

I go to quilt shows and just look at quilts, and shop.

I've never taken a class at a quilt show, though I've been tempted.

The Vermont Quilt Festival is loads of fun - lots of quilts, lots of vendors, and lots of other quilters. I'm going up for the day tomorrow on the bus, and I'm hoping I have enough time to see everything.

What bus do you take? I'm on Long Island and I've been trying to figure out if there is a way that I could get there on my own without my DH and 2 year old. I'm sure that I'd have to take something from the city?

An Albany bus company called Yankee Trails has a bus going up. I didn't know until one of my quilt buddies mentioned it. Some of the local quilt guilds have bus trips, but none were close enough to make it worth while. It's going to be about 3.5 to 4 hours on the bus, but at least I won't be driving it. I don't know how long it would be from Long Island, though.

I looked at Amtrak and Greyhound...there is no way to do a same day trip on one of those. It would definitely have to be a charter. So, no go this year but next year I will definitely make earlier plans to do a weekend there. Have a great time!
