very excited!
Well I called an online fabric shop this morning that has the fabric that I have been looking for and ordered to see just how much they have. well they have the 4 yards I ordered and probably another 5 yards too. I am thinking about getting the last 5 yards because i really like the fabric and want to make sure i have enough of it. but it has actually shipped out. just got the email a bit ago about it shipping out.
am i weird for being soooo excited about this? its okay if i am because I have the fabric that i have been looking for. (squeal of happiness) anyone else get this excited? |
It's very exciting when you find just the right fabric. If you like it that much, I'd call them and tell them you want the rest.
As hard as you've looked and as long as you've waited, you have every right to be excited! :) Definitely order the rest of that fabric!!!
You're not weird. Fabric is our drug of choice. You just got a big hit! Happy sewing.
After a long search for a certain fabric, I feel like yelling, "Eureka" when I find it. A couple of years ago I was searching for Veggietales fabric for an I spy quilt. When I finally found it I could hardly contain myself.
I'm right there with you when it comes to excitement over finding fabric.
not weird at all....glad you could find it!
This is the best place to share such excitement, as we're right there with you!
It's not at all weird. We know how long and hard you searched to find it and it is a beautiful batik.
I know the feeling and its great.
It's really exciting when you have been searching for a certain fabric especially if you have seen it before and then decide you want it. I have been just as excited so enjoy your fabric. Sue
Not weird. I think we all know what it's like to find a special fabric. Glad you found it!
We all know how you feel...so...CELEBRATE!!! (And then go and order the rest of it!)
A few years ago I was making a special quilt for my first grandchild. I think I went to about 20 fabric stores (shop hop) until I found all the right fabrics for what I wanted to do. I was very excited to find them all.
Definitely NOT weird! I am making 4 identical Christmas throws for family members in memory of our grandmother. They are based on the vintage postcard fabric made by Kay England a number of years ago. My design needs more of one fabric than I anticipated and I was heartbroken as I wanted the fronts to all be alike. I was "over the moon" with joy when I found more online. Our grandmother used old greeting cards and typed verses, sayings or short poems on the back with an old portable typewriter then assembled them into books for each of us. The fabric brought this thoughtful gift back to mind.
I hope you ordered the rest of that fabric - you know there's a perfect 2nd project just waiting for it!! And no, you are not weird - we all understand the excitement, the rush and the high we get from this beautifully creative hobby we all share!
You're among friends here so go ahead and be as weird as you like. We all do the happy dance.
Not weird at all. Part of the fun and challenge of quilting is "hunting down" the perfect fabric. When you've found what you want, and sometimes it can be very time-consuming, the feeling is pretty sweet.
You came to the right place to celebrate. No one here will think you're weird- just a happy stitcher!
Congratulations on your find. |
Not weird at all, congrats.

Years ago, my sis in law and I found some black/blue/white starry fabric that is a wonderful backdrop for many other fabrics. When Wally World stopped carrying fabric, we went into a panic and went to a WW 30 miles west of us (one the still carried fabric) and ordered a full bolt. 10 yds, I think???? Never been sorry one second. Still love it for many uses. |
Good score and definitely get the rest of it if it's still available.
LOL, I get that excited sometimes when I find a fabric I love even if I wasn't looking for it. Especially if it's at the thrift store or at a yard sale where I can afford to buy it!
I think that if you really love it and they have it still, I'd order it.
Your not weird, your a quilter and only people who love quilting can understand this obsession we have.

I make quilted totes for friends and family and needed of all things,,,,,,sea turtles... I just knew I would not ever findfabric with sea turtles on them. Typed it in and ..........wow....found lots of it. Was doing the happy dance all overf the house. grand sons wife loved it.....
I get very excited just to buy fabric for my "someday" stash. It must be very exciting to find something you love and know exactly how you'll use it.
I am sooooooo happy!!!!! Fabric came in the mail today. I was hopeing that it would be but figured that it should get here by Saturday. Yeah!!!!!!! Already cut off the amount I think that I will need and folded and put away the other three yards. Now to bleed test it and starch then as soon as I finish piecing a baby quilt I am working on then I get to finish my dds quilt. So excited.
Good for you, that would make me happy also.
Not at all wierd! I tell hubby that fabric is my "drug of choice." LOL! It sure makes me happy, especially when I find just the right one.
You are among fellow junkies, it's okay. :) I love the feeling of taking new fabric out of the washer/dryer. I kind of "pet" it as I fold it and put it away (or sometimes go straight to the cutting table with it). Enjoy!
I'd go for it. Call them and tell them you'll take what they have. And if you dont have room for it, I'm sure I'll find a crack or corner to put it in(ha-ha).. Don-isewman
Yes, I get very excited about fabric too. Especially if it is on sale or I am at the end of a bolt and they ask if I want the rest for a percentage off; of course I do!!!♥
I searched for two years for some Michael Miller "Surfs up" fabric. It is a water print that has baby sea turtles all over it. I finally found it and I fought several yards of it. I made one quilt with it so far all the turtles were fussy cut and I still have the rest of it for "some day" use! I was the happiest girl in the world when I was able to put it in the online cart and it didn't tell me that there actually wasn't any left.
