Viking #1+ Extension Table
 

I've recently kidnapped my mom's Viking 1+ machine because it needs to be used more often (she has three machines in addition to this one, and maybe one more, but I lost track a while ago). My mom is thrilled because the machine is getting some use, I'm thrilled because it sews beautifully, and the machine is thrilled because it has a new home. ;-) The 1+ is actually a cool little machine, and I want to use it more, but every time I want to use it, I have to pull it out and set it up. I'm a little spoiled because I like a flat surface to work on ...

As I'm also about to buy a new machine next month, I am considering buying an Ikea table for the Viking and my Janome, but I also want to get an extension table for the Viking. I've found a website for Sewing Mates tables, but I've not had any experience with them. Has anyone used one of these extension tables, or are there suggestions for other tables I should consider?

I have a Sewing Mate and use it for my portable machines to take to sew days etc. It's great in that you can buy this one table and it can fit many, many machines. So, it saves lots of space and money not having to buy multiple tables if you have several machines. I have over 30 sewing machines, so it's a handy tool. However, my FMQing and other major quilting projects are done on my table that lets the machine set flush with the surface. Any portable type table isn't the best because of the drag of the quilt and the quilt catching on the edges. So, a big thumbs up for using the table for classes and on the go...but really a machine that can lower into a table for a flush surface is the best at home.

I have a Viking #1+ along with two other, more recent-one expensive sewing/emb, and the other just a computerized w/built in stitches.......really and truly I love the bobbin/ winder set up n the Viking, really dislike the drop in and winding system on the " new" ones.. Viking takes any thread without hiccups! I find myself using the viking most,and recently a daughter has discovered her too! So why are u buying a " new" one? If I buy again, I will definitely go HV!
