Viking 875 Sapphire?

Applique.....
I am new to appliquéing. I was wondering about using the "Fix" feature on the machine.

The manual says: The FIX button will lock the stitch at the beginning and/or at the end.

Any tips for appliquéing are appreciated!

Thanks!

You can use the fix at the beginning and end, however, do some samples on a scrap sandwich. I have a couple Vikings and one makes kind of an ugly knot on the back with the fix.

Thanks....that's a great idea! I'll try it and see.

My slightly older Viking has this feature as well. Not sure I would use it for applique as it does seem to leave a bit of a 'lump' - front and back. It stitches multiple times in place - 6-8 stitches maybe? But yes, test on a scrap first to see how yours behaves.

My Viking Emerald also has that feature, I think it's a kind of option for backstiching, it takes 3 or 4 stitches before moving forward. Best bet would be to follow PP's advice.
