This was a gift from an elderly lady friend.. She had it for many years, but I don't think she wore it much... I like to read in bed, so it keeps my arms warm..

I've seen nice pillows and stuffed animals made from chenille, but this one will remain a bedjacket as long as I last..

I agree - this is nice!

WOW I looked high and low for one of these at Christmas for my Mothere, she is in skilled nursing and is always cold, I ended up buying her a really nice robe and cutting it off and hemming it.

Wow, thanks for the memory. I remember my Grandmother with one of those. It seems that my Mom had one too.

That is so pretty. I sure wouldn't cut it up to make something else.

I am old enough to remember the chenille bedspreads, but I have never seen a bed jacket. I love that!! It would be at the top of my 'want list' if they made them today. It's
very pretty.

I remember those. I know they are still making chenile robes, I have 2 of them, but haven't seen the jackets. It is a lovely pattern. Looks like it dates from the 50's.

I was in the airport and saw a lady who had cut up old chenille bedspreads to make a jacket out of them. I really loved the jackets and have it on my list of things to do. I have several old spreads around here.

Me either, Kris...
Sometimes they are just too pretty to use in a quilt or other things...

This is a lovely vintage jacket!

I had a newer bed jacket, but it was so stiff, and wouldn't soften up, even after washing. I gave up and gave it to Goodwill. I use a soft sweatshirt fabric jacket now!

Those jackets made from sweatshirts and trimmed with quilting pieces are very nice and comfortable.. I have a sweatshirt that I'm planning on doing that with...

Anybody have directions? Bet CraftyBear knows of a good tute for that... and it can be used for a jacket to wear out, too...
