There also those who use chenille spreads as "cutters". I have seen some very cute things made from combining both.

Love the Santa!

Lately I've seen some square scotty dogs made of these.

I have an angel made from my great grandmother's quilt that was showing major wear!

I buy old cutter quilts to put over my furniture to protect it from the cats. When I have company over, I take off the old quilts and shoo the cats outside. The quilts prevent them from shredding my furniture with their claws. They don't like to scratch the quilts, because they move..not an effective scratching post!! LOL

Also use them for camping, picnics, and for the grandkids to spread on the floor to play on. They are really handy if you can find them cheap and they aren't totally in shreds.

Sorry, girls...
I have seen this term a lot here in Kansas. Cutter quilt - It's an old quilt that has "love marks" - frayed edges, stains, torn spots...you get the idea. They are far from mint condition; yet, they still have sections that could be salvaged and used for something.
