Sometimes the ones that are locked up are a real pain in the butt. I have one I have been working on for quite a while and I am having to find a needle bar for it and it is not an easy one to find. If they are a common machine then I would walk away from it, but it it is a rare or really early model (1840's - 1860's) I would get it.
