Look what I found on Craig's List...has anyone else ever seen vintage machines "crafted" and turned into something like this? The man making these sells them for $80. Here's what he posted:

I find old Singer sewing machines and enjoy turning them into farm tractors for the family room, office, or even machine shed. The six I have put together this spring date from 1903-1921 and are made in New Jersey. They all come with a small quartz clock pictured in one of the shots. The tractors have cast seats, the front wheels and sterring wheel turn, and even one has cast rear wheels. Perfect for the person that has any connection to agriculture.

These were posted on the Vintage machine thread. I think it's pathetic, but what can we do about it?

Can't do a thing...I just had never seen anything like this before.

My husband and I ran across someone locally who was selling his art in this manner....we tried to rescue some of the machine heads he had in his "parts bin" but he wouldn't part with them.

To each his own I know, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that just makes me sad.

I guess one can only hope he decides to quit if no one buys them. What a shame to do that to some machines that someone could use.

Oh, what a heart breaker... Although, I have seen some body's only for sale where they gutted it to fix other machines. If that's what he uses it's probably o.k., but I seriously doubt it.

I think they use machines that are beyond repair. How they are not taking perfectly good machines and trashing them.

greed. he probably gets more money for them like that than if he fixed them up and made them sew

I think they are pretty cool. At least they are not melted down in China as scrap.

Gasp!!! How could anyone do that?
