I picked up a lot of vintage feedsack stars (well, they were listed as scrap but when I looked in the bag I found about 400 small stars). All hand sewn.

What block would these form? Any ideas? They are 4" tip to tip and 2.5" across the block.

They are really pretty, I'd love to finish what the last quilter started. :-)

How cool! The fabrics in the pic are really pretty. I've never seen a block like that but I bet a diamond shape ties them all together.

I'm googling and searching here and the closest thing I find is Job's Tears. But I don't see the bigger pattern it fits into.

There was a single six-sided white shape sewn on one of the stars. But I couldn't figure out the pattern overall.

I have similar pieces I found at an antique store. The price was right and I am a sucker for orphan blocks. I'll be watching this to see what others have to offer!

I'm going to tuck this away for a bit - I have too many in progress projects right now - and 2 babies being born this month so time is an issue!

I am nearly done with the classroom quilt too. Due in 1 week! Yikes! Better get to quilting!

I just dug out my quilt pieces, they are also about 4" x ??? the sizes vary and that will make it difficult to put together. They look like they were done in the 40's maybe. I paid $9 and got 177 of the little buggers! Some are in better shape than others but they are all hand sewn.
Sometimes it is relaxing to pull out the orphan blocks I have and dream of putting them together. Dreaming is good for the soul, right?

I counted last night (it was relaxing to iron and count them. There are around 700!

I think I'm going to share some of them on ebay. I don't see me using more than 100-200! I'll tuck them away for now (I'm like you, I like to walk thru the vintage fabric and think about how to use them!).
