Virtual Quilitng Weekend--September 1-4, 2017
 

Hurray!--it's Virtual Quilting Weekend! I've had company for several days so haven't been working on anything. I have several WIPs, this might be a good time to work on a few of those. Too many choices!

What will YOU be working on this weekend? Please share with the rest of us. Looking forward to seeing and reading your replies. Good time to start Christmas presents if you haven't already, or organize the quilting room. Maybe start something new. Or do a little shopping. I see there are quite a few online sales and I know at least one of my local shops is having a sale this weekend :).

Next VQW will be October 6-9.

I have grand plans (as usual). Number 1, binding my peacock quilt. And I really should pull out my friend's quilt, that I promised to finish for her. Then I'll finish a customer quilt, sort out my sewing room, and figure out which UFO is next on the list.

Krista, that is so pretty. I am traveling this week so no quilting for me.

Krista, that's lovely! We have some plans for the weekend but hopefully I can find some time for my Shakespeare in the Park quilt. It's coming along nicely.

So, YAY, it's time for another VQW! I plan to quilt this top I just finished and also work on putting a Puss in the Corner top together.

My projects this weekend is to work on my:
(1) Temperature quilt (at least 3 months worth).
(2) cut out 2-3 blocks of This Board's Quilting Bee, and sew at least 1 Block for September.
(3) Start to go through my sewing room closet and area under my quilting machine
(4) Finish sewing on binding on my AK crossroads quilt. Another quilt will be done. Only took 2 years.
(5) Start to work on m UFO twilling W/H.
(6) start to work on my turn under applique W/H (another UFO).

That should keep me entertained for 4 days. I have a quilting sewing along with my quild and I should be able to start some of my project there.

Kristska and Showbizgirl, Such Lovely projects you are working on. I'm looking forward to seeing your projects done.

I am planning on working on a new quilt I started. All of the strips are cut, and I have started sewing them together and then cutting out the triangles. After I have 80 triangles, all of those have to be sewn into squares and sewn into a top. This is the true meaning of "you cut fabric apart and then sew it back together?!" It should be pretty when it is done.

I found that hanging the strips on one of my drying racks was the easiest way to keep track of everything. I am piecing this on my 201 and the Featherweight card table next to me is pretty darn handy.

Such beautiful projects you folks are already showing! I am excited to be able to join in. Harvey is bringing ample rain today in Kentucky, so I am going to sew and watch it rain. I am working on a simple Christmas quilt made out of a JOL jelly roll. I also have a Two Step top made with Baltimore Blues jelly roll finished that I can start quilting if get bored piecing. Happy piecing and quilting everyone!

I love the idea of using a drying rack for keeping track of strips - sure beats draping them over every available surface in the sewing room! I'll have to be on the lookout of one now.

I'm working on a modified double Irish chain. Spent two weekends ago pulling fabric and cutting strips,

and last weekend sewing the strips and recutting them and then sewing them into different strips.

and then grouping them for each block.

Now I'm assembling the strips into blocks. This part goes way faster than the rest, since most of the "thinking" part is done. I hope to have the top assembled by the end of the day. (This pic was taken before I assembled all the strips, I did up two to make sure my process was working)

I've got several quilts that need binding ( that the cats love)

and want to get a few more floppies quilted. I really want to spend time with my new embroidery machine - and I don't have to be back to work until next Thursday. I started a crazy quilt with machine embroider with an older machine, so I plan on pulling that out and getting more blocks done. I think I had 20 out of 100 done, so I've got a long way to go.

I started collecting lace and fabric in 2014 and started cutting and assembling in 2016, but I've not worked on it much in 2017. I hoped for an Antique Wedding Gown look. The beiges are showing up much darker in this picture than they are in person.
