I was able to not only finish my wool mat but also a small showman block that only needed binding.

A quick Sunday morning check-in. Continuing to make corrections to my Harrisonburg diamond border blocks. I pressed all of the diamond seams to one side and discovered that then the blocks were connected to one another the seams were waaay to thick, so I am picking out a couple of stitches on each point and pressing the seams open and rejoining the blocks. The seams are less bulky but it is time consuming. This may be the only part of this quilt I finish this weekend. (There are 110 of these little diamonds that need corrections. On the side of positive thinking, it will be one UFO top finished. The rest of my list will just be moved on to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
I'll take a photo later today and post to show progress before the weekend is over. :) |
Well, just as I stood up to enter my workroom, DH waltzed in and asked if I wanted to go fishing at the beach yesterday morning....We didn't catch anything! But I did manage to get my Firecracker flattie sandwiched! My intentions are to stipple it today.

Doing some hand stitching on the binding trying to stay cool! I haven’t finished quilting the snowmen section, but want to get this fuzzy backing encased to keep it a little tidier.

I finally had the time to read the thread. AAshley333 your sacks are adorable, where might one find/ buy the pattern? I'm so glad so many got some projects done. Until next VQW, stay cool and happy sewing.

QM, I like this link better! My problem was finding drawstring material. I likes the 3mm polyester cording from Michaels, but ended up ordering more online that was 1.5 mm that will work. I wanted to ask for help finding the right drawstring and am still open to suggestions! Plus, I ordered the gadget to help pull ribbon through casing, but ended up using a safety pin! It needed a 3/4" casing! Now, I ordered the Purple Thang, of which 2 packages arrived! Must have put in my cart twice! So, I'm set. Warning: they are addicting!
I did sandwich my kaleidoscope quilt, but have not started quilting. Instead, I spent the day working on the Blue Faux Diamond quilt. It was a leader-ender project that now has enough blocks to start the project. The square in a square pieces needed starching and trimming; then paired up to "converge". I am currently stitching the final blocks together. |
My sister and I made small bags like yours several years ago and we used rattail cord. It came in pretty colors and worked well for us.

It is now Monday and am still reworking the diamonds for my Harrisonburg quilt of 110 I have about 60 that need their seams pressed opened, then reattached to one another, and added to the main body of the quilt. Ho hum, I was hoping to have this UFO finished, but not to be this weekend. :(
I did finish the binding on the donation quilt. Ta-Da! It will be off to a shelter tomorrow to warm someone this fall or winter. The rest of the projects on my list will be done AFTER the diamond border is complete. |
I finished big stitching the throw and am 75% done with the binding. I ended up making a pillowcase for the son who's headed off to college next weekend. It was a productive weekend. Loved seeing all the projects.!

Here is a gloomy photo of what I was working on this weekend. The sun is starting to go down, sorry. I am just so excited to snap a photo of this UFO that is one step closed to being finished. Now time to do a run of stay stitching around the outside so all of those seams don't pop and a final press, then off to be quilted. Too big for me to tackle on my domestic.
Pattern is "Harrisonburg" by Wendy Shephard for the Virginia Quilt Museum. |
