I love those Scotties! I've had a most productive weekend, quilting wise. House cleaning, not so much. I finished the recent clues for both mysteries I'm working on, trimmed one quilt, and bordered another -- I'll probably not quilt it until after Christmas. Plus I cut out two simple quilts to be sewn together this week. I'm attaching pics of the two quilts. This was my first time making Delectable Mountains and although I messed up on the spacing, I am in love with this way of making a border.

Lena1952--the studio ALWAYS needs tidying :)

ashley333--thanks for the space heater recommendation--mine works pretty well now but it's nice to have a recommendation for when it needs replacing. Hope Sadie is feeling better.

Well that's not convenient! I hope the shop won't be closed too long. Planning future projects time?

Lots of productive folks on here. I woke up early this morning and knew I wouldn't get back to sleep so at 5am (on a Saturday no less!) I started the HST for the Bonnie Hunter mystery. I have them all sewn and pressed and will probably trim them this evening or tomorrow. I also paired the HST squares for the Cut & Bolt mystery and will sew them later. Last evening I decided to bind the last Christmas quilt and disaster struck when my even feed foot disintegrated on me. I called the Janome repair shop this morning and they are closed due to illness so I won't be able to finished binding the quilt this weekend. And of course, none of the three walking feet I have will fit my model of Janome. Pits!

I'm back! Yesterday was the Hot and Heavy (by Annie) bag class at the shop. I was able to finish the bag in class; often I bring the bags home to finish the binding. I made the larger bag and it's big! Today I was at church all morning and then made three types of cookies this afternoon. Was standing way too much so needed to ice my knee after supper. So finally getting a chance to get one here and see what everyone has been up to. I see many of you have been much more productive that I was :).
Hope to see you all back here for New Year's. |
The weekend is over and although my accomplishments were less that what I would have liked, on the other hand progress is good no matter how small. I have added the special sewing days and the regular VQW to my calendar and will keep pressing forward to have fewer projects queued up for those virtual gatherings.:)
Merry Christmas to all and take time to enjoy your friends and families this season. |
No sewing, but I did get all my fabrics pressed and paired for the Our Town mystery quilt. Hope to start sewing today.

I finished my BIL's Cat quilt yesterday. I still need to run the sticky roller over it to remove the dog hair and loose threads, but I'm just about ready for Christmas giving.
I love Laura Coia's method of machine binding. I still need to improve my consistency, but the result is much better than any other method I've tried. bkay |

Is that the method using a flange? I've thought about doing that for placemats.
