Has anyone heard of a Viscount sewing machine?
Anyone have one? I saw this one on shopgoodwill.com http://shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Vis...d-7581163.html It looks like it could really sew up a storm! Looks good and heavy duty. Anyone know anything about it? |
I think there was one on our local CL a while back. I believe they are made in italy. I'm not sure though.

WOW, this is one hard machine to help you find information on and think it was probably originally made in Great Britain. There seems to be some infomation on what they call the Silver Viscount.
I would suggest when you have time to just try googling various wordings to see if you can find more information. I've spent quite awhile trying to help you but this is going to be one long search for information with following links at various places. Maybe another member with more google savvy with wording can help you a lot better than I can. But my curiosity is really peaked when I can't find something...it just has to be out there somewhere. Hope you find what you need as it does look like a very solid machine that could serve you well. |
New one to me. Doesn't all of the dials remind you of the dash board on the older cars? Thanks for sharing.

I actually had one. I'm not sure it was the same model, but the one I had was a pinkish color and had an external motor, and a plate on the motor said that it was made in Belgium. I bought it at a yard sale for five bucks. It sewed like a dream. I have a friend who makes Old World Santas and he needed a machine that could sew the fur collars on the costumes without damaging the hide (He bought old fur collars at thrift stores for the costumes). He tried the Viscount and it worked perfectly, so I gave the machine to him.

I have a 945 its made in Japan, I have not been able to get operators manual for it.

I just purchased a Viscount 999B, in a cabinet. A note on it says it was tested and working but we haven't tried it yet. I will have to do some cleaning before we do much. I'm not findding any info or manual's online but will keep searching. It may be a 60's machine as it can use two threads, does zig zag and several decorative stitches We have nothing but the machine so it will take some experimenting to make it perform. It is cast iron and made in Great Britain but the motor is made in Japan. Very Heavy.

It may be that just your motor was made in Japan.
