there is a yahoo group for this. Lots of information there. I was condidering this setup at one time, but there isn't any other support than telepone for it on my side of the country.

My girlfriend had one and loved it. She said it was easy to move and she hardly had trouble with tension and needle. It is a heavy head though. Might be a consideration.

across the top it says 'New Here?/ Sign up',,,, go there and sign up. Then you put in voyager quilt machine in the search line. OR put in quilting machines. You will get a list of places to go to. Most you will have to sign up to join. Just follow their steps and you'll be a member. I always sign up for 'daily digest' and NEVER for 'individual' e-mails. That way I don't have to sign in to Yahoo! to read what everybody is saying/selling or trading...... BUT if I have a comment I can go to Yahoo! and comment.

I have a Voyager 17 SLR on a SuperQuilter ProFlex frame and am very happy with it. It is a very simple machine so not much can go wrong that cannot easily be fixed over the phone. You can't beat the price new or used. It is very heavy, though, so keep that in mind when choosing a frame.

Thanks to all who took the time to answer. We went ahead and purchased the machine and frame and I think we made a good decision. As a new-be to the world of long arm quilting, I am having fun but not sure if I am on the right road. Playing and practicing. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed at learning the basics?

cursive e's or l's, flowers and leaves, whatever type of quilting you want to do on the real thing. Take 2 ugly pieces of fabric, sheets or muslin and layer with a craft/crib size batt or an old blanket and just have at it. If you're still not comfortable, load up another one. Use the same thread in the top & bobbin when you start to save yourself some headaches. Get to know your new buddy! If your's came with the manual & DVD's--read & watch them a few times. You'll pickup things you missed at first.

I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Nolting is in Hiawatha, about 10 minutes from me. They are now the Nolting / Hinterberg headquarters.

I called because I am going to go out and visit them, to look at the Voyager and the Summit frame. They did inform me that the Voyager is being redesigned right now. They wanted to increase the quality of it but keep it at the same price point.

Just though I would let you know in case it impacts your decision, but you might want to hold out for the redesigned version. :)
