Looking for a pattern to make a waist bag (or waist pouch). The kind you use instead of carrying a purse. My family is going on vacation to Disney after Christmas and thought it would be neat to make these for them for Christmas.

fanny pack!

They would be cute in Disney prints. I would make a couple of extras if you do this because I wouldn't be surprised if people ask you where you got them and you could sell them the extras!

Like a fanny pack? I have seen a lot of free patterns for these on the internet :D:D:D

Do they still make fanny packs? I haven't seen them in years.
If you are going to Disney, you might just want to get a pattern for a money "belt" something that can be attached to you to hold just cash and cards. I don't know how old your kids are but you might also want to consider a stroller bag attachment for food and drinks and medical supplies. ie band aids sprays sunblock, aspirin and any other pill things that you might need in the park. even if your kids are too old for one you might want to get one of those umbrella ones to just "carry" all the stuff that you might accumulate or carry. |
what's the difference between a belly bag and a fanny pack?
if any - - |
For yourself I'd suggest a light vest with inside pockets. Several of them maybe with zippers or velcro. . There are pick pockets everywhere now.
When our kids got older we would give them money and tell them they would get more if and when they got to a certain point, usually near the ice cream place, and would get more money at that point. So much was taken off for each 10 minutes late...they always beat us to that place. Surprising how much money you can go through there. |
Thanks for all the info. I couldn't remember the title fanny pack. I will utilize all the tips. There are 20 of us going with 5 being kids 6 and under. I think we will need to keep our hands free and available when needed. I did want to make them in Disney prints and extras just might be a good idea. I still need to make Minnie Mouse and Cinderella Dresses too. Also appreciate the stroller bag ideas. Thanks again.

Consider making a small cross body bag. They are easier and then not so much around the middle... if you get my drift.

http://tinyurl.com/q2emjlq PS I forgot to add that there are 3 sizes in this pattern. I use the biggest one, but have made the smaller ones as well. |
