Just wanted to let you all know that I am waiting on an insurance quote before I can open my store/GET MY BUS. LICENSE. I will be listing fabric after I get the license. I don't want to deplete my stock and have no way to get more.
I thought I'd fill you all in. Wish me luck. Things are going s-l-o-w!!! |

I'm getting really nervous. I'm making the baby's birthday cake tomorrow. It might take forever. I've got a lot to do on it. It will consist of 3 cakes. maybe more by the time I finish! I tend to "OVER-DO" things! Well, I can't post the pic bc it is another person's. If you go to cake central (.com), and search for Little Einsteins under the gallery, you will see them. Or...basically, it is the Little Einsteins ROCKET...he will be made of a round cake and a half ball cake. That will be sitting on the "sheet" cake that will serve as the ground and base for the characters that will be paper. Yeah, I cheated on those. The rocket boosters are going to be twinkies! hehehehe! Did you know Twinkies are HTF? GEEZ! OK...I'm going completely off subject here. |

Mornin'! Let me see...I have all the wedding cake pans from beveled to square, round, oval...the bear pans...lg/sm...the dolldress bottom pan...tree pan...oh heck...lots of them, with all the accompaning parts and pieces for innovative design. tips galore, and even the gumpaste stuff, with the people molds. I really worked at it.hee hee. They are currently packed up until I can get back to them.
|
Sandra~Sounds like you really have a lot of cake stuff. I do, too! I only have round wedding cake pans for now, though! I've been collecting since about 2000. The round doll dress pan, is it the Wonder Mold pan? I'm using it to make my DD's cake next month. I don't own it, but my Sister let me use her's. I don't know which I'm more into...the sewing/quilting stuff or the cake stuff.
I have the mini wonder mold pan that makes 4, though. ahh.. |
Miranda, your description of making a party cake, brings my childhood to mind. My mother was an artisan, much like you. She made all our clothes when we were growing up, but she also had one extra special gift. She could make gorgeous cakes. The week before our birthdays, she would hand us the cake folder. This was pictures from magazines she had ripped out thru the years. No directions, just pictures. We could chose any cake we wanted. For my 10 or 11th birthday, I chose the Cinderella Castle. Mom surprized me by making Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother, the Pumpkin Coach and the Castle! She really went all out on doll cakes, but for some reason she went overboard that year.
Some of my fondest memories of her was watching her sit making frosting roses on little squares of wax paper and filling cookie sheets with them. They would then go in the basement refridgerator to set. She was so talented and I miss her so. I am glad to meet someone like her. :D |
Oh, Boo! How touching! I'm at a loss for words. Thanks for the kind compliments.
I have a stand-up freezer in the basement my icing decorations go in to set. |
