Walking foot for a Bernina with dual feed

Do you think a newer Bernina with the dual feed needs a walking foot? They are 25% off right now and I know I loved using my walking foot with my older Bernina.

Isn't dual feed the same thing as a walking foot??

Does your owner's manual tell you any info?? I have an older Bernina and I do use a walking foot.

The dual feed is supposed to work like a walking foot but I was wondering if anyone has used both and if there was a difference or a need for the walking foot.

No, I don't think a dual feed machine needs a walking foot. They are one in the same action, and I am not so sure that you could maybe damage your machine. I would check with your dealer before engaging it. I hope you enjoy your new machine, I love my Berninas. I remember what I paid for my walking feet, and they are out of this world expensive. Use that money toward another foot you want. Like maybe a bias binder attachment foot, maybe?

Yes...I just bought a walking foot for mine, and it works much better.

The Bernina dual feed works great on two layers. For three, such as quilts a WF is better.

I have heard from people that have these machines that the integrated dual feed is good for peicing, but the actual attached walking foot is better for quilting multiple layer better than the built in

I use my walking foot (which I bought for my Bernina 440) with my new Bernina 710. Sometimes the dual feed is not enough when machine quilting a quilt.
