Walking Foot causing tension issues
I have a Brother 9050. When I use my walking foot the tension on the underside of the fabric is too tight. I've determined that the thread pushes up against the walking foot and the thread is really hard to pull down from the top, which doesn't seem to make sense. I tried replacing the needle. I cleaned out the machine and changed the thread spool, rewound the bobbin, and made sure that the bobbin was threading correctly. Finally I removed the walking foot and put a regular foot on the machine and ........ no more bottom tension problems.
I don't know why this is happening because it was working fine last night. Anyone have any ideas? |
It's a computer machine right? You'll have to adjust the tension and not use auto. Pull out your manual or search online how to program it in.

I'm wondering if you need to adjust the presser foot pressure.

Some things to check - First, are you absolutely sure your walking foot is installed correctly? Second, are your feed dogs up? Third, could your walking foot be broken? To check this, take it off the machine and move the arm up and down to see if the dogs on the bottom of the foot are moving. If they aren't moving, the foot is broken.

I think Dunster may be onto something. It does sound like it may not be working correctly.

I recently learned that a walking foot should be cleaned and possibly oiled occasionally.

Why is it when I put my walking foot on to do straight line quilting, I get theses tiny stitches no matter how night I increase the stitch length

are your feed dogs up? mine weren't and it wouldn't move of course.
