Even with my walking foot, zig zag and decorative stitches won't space themselves right when quilting. I have to go so so so slow to keep them the same length. And that is boring. Sewing over the even the most innocent seam-bumps basically STOPS the feed - but only with decorative stitches. Straight stitches are fine. What am I doing wrong?

you are not doing anything wrong. the walking foot has to stitch thru more layers to you need to slow down. Be sure the seams are pressed really flat to minimize the probl

Quilting is not always "fast".

You could try lowering the pressure of your walking foot, if your machine has that ability.

I keep telling myself, "it maybe slow, but it is still faster than hand stitching" :wink: :D:D:D

I have found the same thing, so when I do some of the decorative stitches, I go back to the regular foot and it works very well.

A walking foot is only capable of moving in a forward direction. Many decorative stitches require stitching in the backward direction. I would not recommend using the walking foot for decorative stitches. It could break the walking foot and they are not cheap.
