Why does my walking foot JUMP sometimes when I am sewing?

Kat Sews 06-02-2011 05:34 PM

what do you mean by "jump"? Is it loose and the whole thing bounces?

DebQuilter50 06-02-2011 05:38 PM

I am just sewing along, and all of a sudden it clicks, thumps, jumps. I can't figure out why. It isn't loose.

The only time mine acted like that, about 2 years ago, I took it off and found a stray thread caught in it. Cleaned it and it has been fine ever since.

I need to know the answer to this one too. My walking foot on my Singer 201 was doing that today and I broke 3 needles in a row and then took it off and quilted without it.

My needle didn't break - that's one good thing.

Do you have the bar in the right place? It either needs to be on top of or around the needle screw.

It is around the needle screw.

Did you figure out your problem yet?

Holice 06-10-2011 05:36 AM

is your walking foot specificaly for your brand of machine or is it a generic walking foot.

Mine doesn't jump but it does get stuck if I am pulling the fabric rather than letting it do it as it should.
