Can I sew on a sash w the walking foot on my machine or do I have to take it off and put on the other foot? I never knew why anyone wanted more than 1 machine, and now I know! Just took a class with a $2000 plus Bernina. Oh my. Back to the $90 Kenmore. I do like the walking foot. You live and you ....

Someone on another post today said that she almost never takes off the walking foot. Makes sense because your fabric will feed evenly! That's what I learned today!

I use a walking foot for almost all piecing.

Sometimes when I'm sewing, I forget to disengage the IDT on my Pfaff, and I've never had any problems. An IDT is an integrated "walking foot." The lever is pressed down and "clipped" onto the presser foot. ;-) I rarely ever unclip it -- partly because I forget that it's there.

You can sew your whole quilt with one :D:D:D What ever is more comfortable for you to use as long as you can maintain your 1/4" seams :D:D:D

Thanks! I love the advice I get here !!

I will sew on borders and piece my backing with my walking foot. I usually don't use one when piecing my blocks as I want a closer 1/4 inch seam.
|
That is good advice! Thanks

My Janome has a 1/4 inch walking foot accessory which is what I use for piecing. Best of all worlds.
The only things I dont use a walking foot for is paper piecing and decorative stitches. |
You are all so brilliant!!! I learn something every single day!! THANKS :D Sue
