I keep hearing walking foot in the posts.
Do they make different quailities of these? or are they all pretty much the same? |
you buy one made for your machine. they do help in keeping the fabrics together better as you sew. only straight stitch with them, you can't zig zag.

There are walking feet make specifically for brands of machines and generic walking feet. I don't recommend the generic unless you have an older machine that does not have one. It has been my experience in teaching machine quilting that the brand specific, while more expensive, is worth the extra $$, Sometimes the generic do not hold up or function properly.

I can do zig-zag & other stitches with my Viking Rose walking foot.

Likewise as donnajean mentioned, my walking foot has exchangeable feet and I can do zig-zag & many other stitches with my Viking Sapphire 875Q machine. This feature is just one of the many reasons I invested in this Husqvarna machine. Love it!!

I have read that any decorative stitch that doesn't go backwards works with the walking foot. and or perhaps side to side (other than zig zag)
