Walking foot

Thinking of upgrading my regular Husqvarna Viking walking foot to the interchangeable dual feed type they have now. Anyone have this one? Worth the money? Thanks!

Hadn't heard of this. I wouldn't update as long as your current walking foot is working.

I wore my Viking Rose walking foot out and replaced it a couple yrs. ago. I'm not aware of the "interchangeable"

Do you have more info?

I just Googled the item and I really don't know why you would need a second foot when you can do straight stitch and decorative stitches with the original Viking Walking foot without changing the foot.

I always use mine for binding. Check with your dealer about your machine specifics, but my machine will do simple decorative stitches with the walking foot. I use the 1/4" adaptor to sew the first seam to attach the binding to the quilt. It really helps to get a nice even seam. If you do all machine binding, you can sew the binding to the back then bring it to the front and attach with the foot & a decorative stitch. I just tried the mock flanged binding for the first time yesterday (tutorial: http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...g-t200207.html ). I used the SITD attachment for the final step, and it came out perfect. Of course the SITD foot makes quilting easy!

I love the interchangeable walking foot. - especially the 'stitch in the ditch' foot. It's costly but for me it was worth it.

If you buy any new Husqvarna feet or attachments, make sure it will fit your machine. Husqvarna feet and accessories are not always interchangeable. My walking foot for my Husqvarna Prelude 360 ($139 Canadian) would not fit my Husqvarna #1 Plus so I had to buy another walking foot. I just expected that all Husqvarna parts would fit all of their machines and it wasn't so.

Thank you all your your comments.

FGlinda, thanks for the heads up on the stitch in ditch foot! I bought the walking foot on eBay, haven't received it yet. I am very excited about it. I will definitely add the SID!

Shelbie, I made sure my machine was compatible. But thanks for the advice.

I have the interchangeable Viking walking foot and LOVE IT......Being able to to have different feet for for stitch in the ditch etc is wonderful. Plus it works great with any of the feet. You can go to the Viking website or maybe just google Viking interchangeable walking foot and there is a chart that tells you what machines it will fit. Mine fits my Designer 1 and the 875 along with my 186.
They are pricey but I kept searching Ebay and found a new one $40 cheaper that was new and from a dealer. One great place is ShopJoya.com...Go to their website and search for Viking interchangeable walking foot. They have the item and also a list of the machines it fits. Not sure their price is the lowest but much lower than my local store. I found it was worth the money.
