So I put my walking foot on my Brother Sewing machine to attach binding to my quilt and it is dragging. I keep sewing and the stitches are getting smaller and smaller. I take off the walking foot and sew with no problem. I reattach the walking foot and try again and not moving. A little piece came off and now I am out a walking foot. This ever happen to anyone else??

Yes, I've broken or worn out two of them and one was the expenisve one for my Bernina ($135) so I wasn't happy. I then bought the generic Bernina walking foot($55) from Alphasew and it broke too! Right now I'm quilting on my Janome using a $30 walking foot and it's working fine. I hope your machine takes the cheap one!

I looked online and it is around $50, not as nearly as bad as $135!!!! There is a piece that must have fallen out from somewhere lol!!!

Some machines can use a generic walking foot. Check your local quilt shops and on line. I got mine for $25 and I thought that was expensive, but that was when I first started this hobby. Now I know this piece is not a luxury--- it's a necessity. Working with the right tool makes all the difference in the world. Good luck finding the one that fits your machine.

I definitely agree a walking foot is a necessity for sure!!!

I have two older machines both short shank. I was quoted between 50 and 150 Aussie dollars for a foot that would only fit one of them. A quick search on Ebay got me a generic for $30. Works a treat fits both and I wouldn't be without one.

There is a spring inside the walking foot that can wear out.

Well my husband took apart the walking foot and for almost an hour had a heck of a time trying to see where the heck this part could have come from. After an hour he put it back together and I went and put it on my machine and it is working!!! At least for now!!!!

just a thought, I went thru 2 walking feet and finally figured out (read it somewhere on line) that I was reversing the walking foot. Think about it...the gears go in a foreward motion, rotating and when you reverse...screws the whole thing up....wish I knew where I read this...I've had one now for 4 years, use alot and its still going, no reversing LOL
