I did my first SID today with my walking foot. Holey moley - did it help. It was a bit hard to get used to since it went much slower than I am used to but it clearly made a difference.

Now, I am going to start working on the binding. I am going to machine bind on the back, wrap that around and machine stitich it on the front.

I know the walking foot will be good on the front - when I have to keep everything lined up nice - but do I need it when I attach the first part? I already stitched around the inside of my boarder - so I am not worried about anything shifting . . what do you think?

I use mine because still lots of bulk. Good Luck

I also used invisible thread in the front. It is so much easier using the walking foot.

I think that both sides of my binding went on nicer with the walking foot.

Anytime I straight stitch on a quilt, I use the walking foot, it moves all the layers at the same time. I only machine the binding on the front and hand sew on the back, I like the looks so much better. Good luck to you.

I use my walking foot when sewing the binding to the front of the quilt; then, I hand stitch it down in the back.

Yes, use your walking foot anytime you have thick fabrics or more than two thicknesses :D:D:D

Yes, I use my walking foot ANYTIME a quilt sandwich is under the needle. Thankfully the "hole" in mine is wide enough to allow almost all decorative stitches as well - that will help you when you wrap over and sew the binding to the front.
