I am almost finished with a floral and white star wall hanging that I was going to hang in my dining room - but the pinks do not look good at all in that room I've discovered. The pattern is Spring Splash by Shelby Morris and I'll try to post a pic later.

It is 41x41" and was wondering if you think this is OK for a lap quilt or is it too small. I'm thinking of using it as a gift to someone who would probably like it.

Thanks for your opinions.

I like a lap quilt to be big enough I can have it for a 'nap quilt'.
(big enough to cover up with)

I have a round table. I've made a number of Table toppers around that size. It sure can dress up a room!

I personally like small ones. In the winter, I usually have a sweater on, but want something over my legs.

i think it should be a bit bigger

Depends on who will get it. I have made something a bit smaller for MIL who is wheel chair bound (I had the tape measure and she told me where to measure to). For myself, I prefer 54" square.

Can you enlarge it with boarders and keep it nice?

I'm with PaperPrincess--I just like to cover my lap. I like my arms free to read a book or sew.

I typically do 45 x 60 because my family is all tall folks and even for kids I want it big enough for them to grow.
