I am making this wallhanging to be raffled. It is a logcabin design. Center star then two pieced borders. Ends up 58 by 58. It is Summer Lake by Judy Martin.

I am thinking this is pretty large for a wallhanging. I offered to make the twin but they wanted a wallhanging. I love both borders but am concerned that people wont want it because it is an odd size.

I can make it with just one border and drop the size to 48 square or just do the square at 36. It is going quickly and I have enough fabric to make a queen so time and fabric are not issues.

I will see if I can find a link to show you.

If you scroll down I am making the coral one but just the center star and then the Greek key border and piano border.

I love the pattern and I am doing it in greens and purples. I am making the quilt as pictured for myself.

I agree with you that the 58 X 58 is too big for a wall hanging for most people. The 36 inch is probably a better size as long as it looks finished at that size. JMHO

That would be a little large for a wall hanging in my house. Beautiful pattern though.

Well, there is always the possibility that the winner wouldn't use it as a wallhanging, but as a couch throw, and 58" isn't bad for that purpose.

I would definitely stay with the 58" size. That gives the winner more options for the quilt's use...wall quilt, couch quilt, or top of queen size bed quilt. That size is not at all too big for a wall quilt, imho.

I am meeting tonight with some of the people in the group. 58 inches is not too big in my house because I have cathedral ceilings plus I would not use it as a wallhanging but a throw. But that is me and I want something that will sell tickets for them and am willing to do whatever that is. 36 inches looks done but is not "stunning".

Thanksfor your comments.

I think 58 inches is too big for a wall hanging but would probably make it that size anyway for the reason listed by others. It sounds like it will be beautiful.

I consider anything around 50" X 50" about right for a wallhanging.

Well they opted for the larger size because you could use it as a couch throw. So I am off to make borders......
