When I went shopping to Walmart this morning I took the time to check out the fabric prices and the fabric prices are up 1 to 4 dollars. I noticed that the new fabric is a better quality then what they sold last year. I had to pry my self out of the fabric department ...before I started loading fabric into my cart.

Prices at the one remaining WM that sells fabric in my area has gone up 50 cents a yard over the past year for the same average to mediocre quality. If it is not on the remnant table, then yardage is over $4 per yard. Sometimes there are great finds at $2 per yard for closeout fabric and remnants, but otherwise their regular prices are not the bargain it used to be.

Yep I noticed it was up. Cheeper to buy the hot pads now than to make them....

I really do think that even with prices going up, it is a better deal for me than even Joannes. The Walmart by me is turning into a Superwallmart. Hopefully they don't get rid of the fabric. As much as I love the LQS fabric - I can't justify paying somewhere near 10.00 a yard.

In my Walmart the prices also went up.
The fabric that was $4.44 is now $4.95.
They have recently gotten in new fabric which is a better quality and it's marked $5.44.
They didn't have a lot on the markdown table but it seemed to be marked down to $3.00 instead of $2.00.
Problem is Walmart never has a sale so sale fabric at JoAnn's or fabric with a JoAnn's coupon could end up cheaper.

I have been buying most fabric on sale online for about $4-$5 a yard so even with shipping it works out to a better deal. I do hate not to be able to touch before I buy but I have not been disappointed in my on line fabric.

It takes me 2 gallons of gas for a round trip to JoAnn's and gas is over $6. I save that and put it to shipping on line.

Then of course there's lunch or dinner I have to buy when I "go to town".

Luckily I have a large stash so I pull from there before I think of buying.
:-D

I have to go to town today so I will take my JoAnn's coupon just in case!

The one Walmart close by that sells fabrics has David Textile fabric. It' darn good fabric. That's the only fabric I buy at Walmart. The Walmart closest to me has prepacked one yard cuts but they are trendy prints no one wants.
The single fat quarters are stiff cheap project fabric not worth the $1 each. Now Walmart brains will say 'we put fabric in the store and no one is buying it'.

yes i just noticed yesterday, our one store that still has fabric, no longer has a $2.00 table, all the fabric is over $4. a yard. I fund a really cute kids print tho, so i was happy.
