I was going to write the same thing - our paper yesterday had the same flyer. Hope the ones who never carried it will carry it now.

katcox 09-19-2011 02:47 PM

I've been trying to get them to take the coupons now for a couple of years still no luck, Darn it. I don't care what the price would be as long as they took them. Michaels and Joannes got it going on so Maybe soon WM will join in. It would really boost there business. I spend alot of money at Joannes, I buy fabric for the hospital surgery pillows. And I would much rather go a few miles to WM than across town to Jo's.

momto5 09-19-2011 04:05 PM

No fabric at the one nearest my home either. However, trust and believe I WILL remember that...

quilter65 09-19-2011 04:29 PM

They take coupons from Joannes???? I'm doing the HAPPY DANCE. I'll just have to run over there and check it out....Thanks for the info.

I agree. Trying to find anyone at Walmart to help you is next to impossible. And they put things up so high you can't reach them AND can't find anyone to get them off the shelf for you.

I know what you mean about things up too high--I'm 5' and if I need something on tyhe top shelf I have to wait until someone taller comes by I can "borrow" to reach it for me.

galvestonangel 09-19-2011 04:40 PM

We just got ours back, I am so excited, I can't wait to go shopping to see what they have. I am making an I spy quilt and need more items. Walmart finally wised up and realized that is probably why they lost money last year.

frostiedee 09-19-2011 04:49 PM

Hopkins county, Ky has their back. Not as big as before, but it's better than nothing.

arizonagirl 09-19-2011 04:58 PM

The Walmart at Chapparl and the 101 has a fabric dept. As does the one at 16th Ave and Bethany Home. The one on Dobson and the 202 does not.

mudose8 09-19-2011 05:01 PM

Walmart is not only there for quilters, but also kids learning to sew in high school and 4H and young families looking to make clothing for their kids, projects etc. My Walmart got the fabric back and posted a banner outside announcing cut fabric is back.

dltaylor 09-19-2011 05:03 PM

Just came from the new walmart and I love, love, love their fabric department. They have what they call "Seasonal" quilts. It contains the fabric and patten in a bundle for onl 25.00!! the one I purchased had 6 yards of fabric!! Beautiful

Nettie Phillips 09-19-2011 05:19 PM

I got the same flyer in our paper but I went to our Walmart today
to check it out and they don't have it yet.

I wish that some of you would stop to realize that Walmart is not a professional quilt shop and that the fabrics they carry are for ALL SEWERS, not just quilters. Many cotton fabrics are intended for children's clothing, making shirts and blouses etc. Why on earth would anyone feel that Walmart fabrics are inappropriate for quilt making when it is likely that some of those fabrics were never intended to be used for that purpose?

Fabrics are coming back to Walmart. I believe that the big push was to start in September from what I have read. It's just now the middle of September. Give 'em a break eh?! All this complaining is going to make them believe that they'll never be able to make quilters happy and I hope that isn't the truth. Anyway...just how many Walmarts are there in this country?? I know the big city closest to me has a least six super stores and they are building another one there. 2000 stores is probably a drop in the bucket to how many there are across the country, it's going to take some time.

I just come from visiting 7 diffrent wal Mart stores in Mid east Ne only 1 had fabric and the others knew nothing about or when they would get Fabric. they were all called Super wal marts

moonwolf47 09-19-2011 06:44 PM

Was in Sunday paper here, too. Wal-mart is only 2 miles from me and we are one of the few that never lost the fabric department, thank goodness.

grandmak13231 09-19-2011 07:01 PM

I got the same flyer but we have always had fabric at the store on South Hill (the first one) but not at the newer one up higher on Meridian. I noticed that they had added more fabric lately.

blueeyez 09-19-2011 07:34 PM

I received the ad Sunday also. But unfortunately, the Wal-Mart closest to me (three blocks) will not be getting fabric back. Their loss!

QuiltingJaguar 09-20-2011 06:39 AM

Wonder if anyone has tried to use other store coupons and match prices when other stores like Jo Ann's had something on sale??? As for me bought bunch of material last week before this went into effect and headed Thurs to our Quilt Fest.

BarbaraSue 09-20-2011 06:42 AM

I'm on vacation in Monacqua, Wisconsin. the Walmart is new pretty and clean. If you are a crafter you might find what you want. If you sew, forget it!
How stupid is this? You can purchase 2 different sewing machines or a serger, but there is no thread except for the multi very tiny spools in the plastic box, no cone thread for your serger, and not one stitch of fabric to sew on! Oh and you can buy batting, pillow forms, foam for cushions and beds, but still there is NO fabric to use these items!!
I don't get the idea here! they don't even have the precut projects. So Silly.

Katydid2 09-20-2011 06:42 AM

Champaign IL store will have fabric in 1-2 weeks. Last week an employee said about 1.5 weeks. The aisles were cleared out and a cutting table was already in place.

cheryl rearick 09-20-2011 07:19 AM

I went to one in Longview Washington and they have some beautiful materials. :)

athomenow 09-20-2011 10:59 AM

All of the WalMart stores in and around me are getting the fabric back. Prices start at $3.97 and go up to $5-6. Not quite the bargains they used to have. However JoAnns is$7-8-9 a yd so it's all relative. One of the WalMart stores in the area never took their fabric out when everyone else did. They have lots of business. Don't know about the price match or coupons, I haven't gotten much yet.

Joeysnana 09-20-2011 11:37 AM

We have a very big fabric section in our WM, but still no one to cut it. big waste!

debbieoh 09-20-2011 02:12 PM

Ours got it back and what a BIG disappointment. not much at all to pick from/ mosdtly fleece, no interfacin, wss unless you buy in packae. mostly already cut fabrics. MAYBE a doz or 2 bolt fabric

That is great for me since I like to buy batting and Pellon products from them (much closer to me than JoAnns. Also, they are expanding their fabric and supplies assortments!

Yes, I went to our WalMart and they said they had fabric! Went to look and it was one card table with about 12 bolts of end fabric piled up. Ha! Hope it gets better!
