I am in the process of downsizing our home and need to eliminate some fabric from my stash. I would like to donate it but am searching for places close to home that would accept the donation. I have no extra monies for postage. I live in So California. Anyone have some ideas?

Isn't there a quilting guild near by?
|
Many churches have craft groups that make items for donation. Perhaps you could call around? Or, google CA quilting guilds & call them about whether they do charitable donation quilts? Good luck!
|
Do any of your LQS have a Project Linus or other charity quilt drives? They would take it to use for them. I am sure many here would paid shipping for 100% cotton also. What do you have?

Church maybe.. I know the church I used to attend had a pantry with food, clothing, and misc items they would open up twice a week to help out families in the area. |
You can "unload" it to me anytime!!

There is a gal on here from Long Beach that was looking for donations to make quilts for charities. Don't remember her name. Let me look

our senior center takes donations to make charity quilts. you might check with the one near you. or ask the charity who makes quilts for them to find a quilter to take the fabric.
|
I can't seem to find who it was. Sorry!!!!
There is a coordinator for Quilts for Kids in the Long Beach area as well. If you have some kids fabrics or bright colors they would probably love to have some of it! |
if you have a linus they would like some
|
Oh my, look at all the members that show in your area, maybe you could PM one of them?

A nearby school, Scout Troop or 4-H Club would be very grateful.

post some pics, some of us would be glad to purchase and it could be c.o.d. or send you shipping ahead of time! |
A local guild, school, church, nursing home might be good.

I teach sewing in a continuation high school in Orange County, it is not financially supported by the district and I use much of my own stash in the classroom. I could use cottons and flannels if you would like to donate some fabric to our class.
|
I would love to help you out. PM your contact info.
