warm and plush batting
I really want to try the warm and plush batting. Has anyone here used it? The reviews on Amazon sound great because I would like a batting that was a little plusher sometimes.
Do you think this higher loft can still be quilted on my home sewing machine? Janome 6600. Or would it be too much loft for my home machine? https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
I have used it, I like the extra thickness but it is not so much that you can't work with it. I would try it on a smaller quilt first though as it does add to the total weight you are handling.

Thanks Kathy! I think I will try it. Good hearing from you

I used it on a quilt and LOVED it. So drape-able and soft!
|
I used it in a baby quilt (a little extra softness for the baby) and quilted it on my Janome 7700 with no problems.

thank you! I have a great niece or nephew due this winter and that is what I was thinking... a little extra softness for the baby :)

Never used it, I use a high loft polyester batting. Warmth without the weight.

I love it. I like the puff it gives.

It is nice - but does add weight. It is not lofty like a poly would be, but is noticeably thicker than regular warm & natural. I've got a whole roll of it so will be using this all year.

I also have a roll of this and I love it. It's so soft and washes up beautifully. You have to be careful to not stretch it as there is no scrim. Also, depending on you baste, you need to be extra careful because you shouldn't try to reposition (too much). I think the website recommends not using basting spray because they recommend not repositioning at all but I glue baste and have needed to reposition a corner once. It does pull apart somewhat easily, but if you've used no scrim batts before, it shouldn't be a problem for you. Do remember to quilt pretty closely. It requires much closer quilting than Warm and Natural does.
Eta: I quilt this on my machine with a 6.5in throat and it hasn't been that much harder than other quilts I've done. It feels heavier and fluffier, but it's not excessive so I think you'll be fine. Agree with PP that recommended trying it on a smaller quilt if you're concerned at all. |
