Desperate times call for desperate measures--I am glad to see you could suck it up and do what you needed to do for the sake of your quilt. You are a true professional :D

You can also use the mr coffee type filters they work great, just press the mflat. Now you did all that laundry for nothing

No..I want to see someone doing laundry....Lord knows...that is a rarity in my house! I have actually been soooo lazy that I've gone shopping for new clothes instead of doing it

You gals crack me UP!!

Okay--why is everyone using dryer sheets and coffee filters for this process??? I thought you just stuck the baby on there and sewed around it--or used Wonder Under.

sewnsewer2 10-19-2008 06:05 PM

Ok, I give up... what's the dryer sheets for (other than laundry)?

sewnsewer2 10-19-2008 08:21 PM

Should have let me know--I have been saving fabric sheets--just in case I ever get brave enough to try applique. I could have sent mine and saved you work!!! LOL :D :D :D

tlrnhi 10-19-2008 10:37 PM

I not only want to see pictures of the quilt, but I want to see pictures of someone doing laundry AND cooking! :)

mary quite contrary 10-20-2008 03:41 AM

Thanks for the tutorial. Did you have to do ANOTHER load of laundry just for us? We thank you for your dedication to quilting.

Bevanger 10-20-2008 04:15 AM

I've been collecting old ones at the Laundry mat...

I just love you guys. I had never thought of using used dryer sheets while I have been playing around with my embrodiery machine. Now I've learned how to save a little money :) Oh the things you can learn :D :D :D Thank you so much

auntluc 10-22-2008 02:16 PM

I'm getting up somenerve to try applique soon.....maybe using the freezer paper technique but this dryer sheet thing seems simple enough. On one of the links posted, I read that freezer paper can shrink in the widths.....you should preshrink it by spraying it with starch and pressing first. Does anyone actually do this....so what if it shrinks, does it create a big problem or not? Which side of the paper do you spray and iron?
Applique is confusing to me...reversing the designs, ironing the freezer paper to the wrong side of the fabric....it's a lefty dyslexic thing for me.

Catherine 10-22-2008 02:24 PM

coffee filters have been my life saver..they are perfect to put under applique projects ...then applique away!!!

auntluc 10-24-2008 03:42 AM

Use dryer sheets to back your quilt labels too with the same applique process.
Iron them and trace your pattern on old dryer sheets for paper piecing... eliminates tearing away the paper. So I'm told...not that I've tried this yet.
