Warning: Don't do this!!
Yesterday while FMQ and going at a pretty good clip, I stitched through the index glove finger, two or three stitches before I stopped. Lucky for me and fortunately, I did not stitch my finger.
My gloves were loose and I knew it. I didn't bother to pull them up tightly and should have and will in the future. I dodged a bullet without the loss of blood and am not passing on the warning to pull the gloves on tightly with the tip of the fingers all the way to the end. AND when I purchase new gloves, I will be going down a size. |
Good advice!
How many times have we (I) regretted not taking those extra few seconds to "do it right in the first place"? (I'm not telling - nor can I count that high.) |
My advice is to do your best work you can do if it is doing piecing or quilting. This isn't a motor cross speedway and I doubt that we do our best work with the petal to the metal. I am delighted that you didn't injury yourself.

I have done that with my machingers and mine do fit well. I was just glad it was the glove and not my finger!
|
I have sewn a few stitches in my gloves. I was glad they were a bit bigger so my finger didn't get pricked by the needle.
|
Okay, I'll be the first to admit that right after I got my sitdown HQ16, I put the needle through a finger...it only takes once! Now my fingers get no where near the needle!
|
And the stitches were probably pretty good looking stitches on the other side. All kidding aside another reason to keep an eye on the little ones who want to become futurequilters.
|
Sometimes it is better to slow down a little. However, we usually want to hurry and finish so we can get going on the next project.

I have almost sewn over my finger so many times and most of the time it was not paying attention
