Wash away fusible web
 

I saw the post from a member asking for the brand name of the wash away fusible web she saw on a TV program. I also saw that program and did not get the brand and I have been looking. someone answered that it was on the Martha Pullen show. I went to the site and did not find the information. The guest on the MP show sewed right sides together, turned it inside out appliqued it down and when you wash it, the fusible washes away and it looks like hand turned applique. If any one has this information, please share the info.

I wonder if the Sulky wash away for machine embroidery would work ? Was it fused by an iron or just pressed on ?

there is one called Wash Away Fusible Sheets that you fuse to the fabric sew it down - then it washes away ?

Are you sure you don't mean fusible stabilizer instead of fusible web? Fusible web is an adhesive and is intended to be permanent, while fusible stabilizers have a temporary bond so they can be removed later (tear-away, wash-away, heat-away, cut-away, etc). Might be easier to find using 'stabilizer'.

I bought some but haven't tried the sheets yet. Haven't opened the package, but the sheets look to me to be the same type of wash-away material Sharon Schamber uses in some of her books. The difference is that these sheets have a fusible on one side.

Was it Beth Ferrier on the show you saw? It's just that I had not thought of using the sheets in the way you describe, which is more like the Eleanor Burns method. The methodology on the back of this package is much more similar to freezer paper applique in that you cut out your applique pieces, iron them to the back of your fabric, cut your fabric a little larger, then turn the edge under before machine sewing.
